Abstract

Church financial management demands operational efficiency as well as a high level of security, particularly in physical transactional activities such as depositing congregational cash to partner banks. This study aims to determine the shortest route, fastest travel time, and safest path for conducting cash deposit activities from the Secretariat of the Methodist Church of Indonesia (GMI) Kasih Karunia to the destination bank. A quantitative approach was employed through network modeling using the Shortest Route Method, solved using the QM for Windows application. The weight variables in this network include geometric distance (meters), average travel time (minutes), and an operational security/risk vulnerability index. The results of the QM for Windows model analysis show that by integrating these three external variables, the system successfully identified the optimal route that balances logistical efficiency and street crime risk mitigation, providing a standard operational route recommendation for the church secretary.

Abstract

Service speed at the cashier area or Front End (FE) is a crucial parameter in the modern retail industry to maintain customer satisfaction and avoid queue buildup. This study aims to determine the optimal allocation of four FE staff to four regular cashier stations with different machine characteristic loads at PT Matahari Putra Prima Tbk retail outlets. A quantitative approach was applied through the Assignment Model with the parameter of minimizing the average transaction completion time per customer (seconds) using QM for Windows version 5 software. Secondary operational data were obtained from the Point of Sales (POS) system records and sampling observations of product scanning speed by each FE staff. The computational results of the Hungarian algorithm show that staff placement based on the optimal pattern successfully reduced the accumulated transaction duration from 225 seconds to 165 seconds per customer simulation cycle. This efficiency of 26.6% proves the significant contribution of quantitative operations research to the smooth flow of service at the retail Front End area.

Abstract

Optimization of the assignment of ministers of the Word (Preachers) across various categorical worship services constitutes one of the strategic responsibilities of the Congregational Leadership to ensure the relevance of theological messages and the fulfillment of the congregation's spiritual needs. This study aims to determine the optimal assignment combination of four Elders/Preachers (Preacher 1, Preacher 2, Preacher 3, and Preacher 4) to four specific categorical worship positions (General/Adult Worship, Youth/Young Adult Worship, Sunday School/Children's Worship, and Men's/Elderly Worship) at GMI. A quantitative approach was applied through the Assignment Model with the minimization criterion of the "Contextual Gap Index" (CGI) executed using QM for Windows software version 5. Input data were obtained objectively through the conversion of linearity scores of service gifts, age profiles, and historical records of congregational evaluation satisfaction. The results of the program execution using the Hungarian algorithm demonstrated that the quantitative-based assignment successfully reduced the total gap index from 34 points to only 22 points per monthly cycle. This reduction in inefficiency index of 35.29% proves the effectiveness of the congregational leadership's role in applying management science for more optimal stewardship of worship services.

Abstract

Order fulfillment speed (order fulfillment time) is a key performance indicator (Key Performance Indicator/KPI) for online shop businesses to maintain marketplace algorithm ratings and customer loyalty. This study aims to optimally assign tasks among four online shop administrators (Admin 1, Admin 2, Admin 3, and Admin 4) to four types of daily workflows, namely Responding to Customer Chats, QC & Product Packing, Stock & Content Updates, and Handling Returns & Complaints. A quantitative approach was applied through the Assignment Model with the parameter of minimizing the average daily task completion time (in minutes) using QM for Windows software version 5. The input data was based on the recording of administrators' actual average working time during the twin date sale promotional period. The computational processing results using the Hungarian algorithm produced an optimal allocation decision that successfully reduced the total task processing time from 185 minutes to 130 minutes. This 29.7% reduction in operational duration proves the effectiveness of managerial decisions based on quantitative data in eliminating inefficiencies in digital retail businesses.

Abstract

Operational management in law firms faces significant challenges in allocating limited time resources amidst high demand for case handling. This study aims to optimize the assignment of legal cases to advocates in order to minimize the total case completion time using the assignment method. The data consists of an estimated time matrix (in days) for four advocates handling four types of cases, namely Criminal Cases, Civil Cases, Industrial Relations Cases, and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cases. Data analysis was conducted using QM for Windows (POM-QM) software. The optimization results show that systematic work distribution produces an efficient one-to-one allocation with a minimum total completion duration of 32 days. The implementation of this linear programming model is proven effective in assisting law firm management in making strategic decisions based on formal data.

Abstract

Election logistics distribution is one of the most critical stages in the electoral process because it directly affects timeliness, security, and completeness of voting equipment delivery. Simalungun Regency consists of 32 districts with diverse geographical conditions, requiring efficient route planning for logistics supervision. This study aims to determine the optimal supervision route for election logistics distribution in the 2029 General Election using the Shortest Route method implemented in QM for Windows. A quantitative approach employing Network Analysis was adopted. The data include warehouse location, district election committee locations, road network, travel distance, and travel time. The analysis was performed using the Network module in QM for Windows to obtain the minimum-distance route. The findings indicate that grouping distribution routes into three operational regions improves travel efficiency and supports effective logistics supervision.

Abstract

The efficiency of field personnel mobility is a determining factor in a company's operational success, particularly for the Field Assistant profession, who is responsible for supervision, inspection, and coordination across various work sector areas. Non-optimal territorial assignment often results in wasted travel time, increased operational costs, and personnel fatigue. This study aims to determine the optimal assignment combination of four Field Assistants to four strategic work areas of PT Prima Karya Berjaya in North Sumatra by minimizing total daily travel time. An operational quantitative approach was applied through the Assignment Model using the Hungarian Algorithm with the assistance of QM for Windows version 5 software. Travel time data were obtained from recording the average daily actual travel duration using GPS-based navigation during the observation period. The analysis results show that the model successfully identified the optimal allocation, reducing total field travel time from 275 minutes to 200 minutes per operational inspection cycle, equivalent to a 27.2% duration reduction. These findings prove that a computational-based operations research approach can significantly enhance actual working time productivity in the field. The managerial implication of this study recommends implementing the assignment model as a periodic scheduling instrument to maintain the efficiency of human resource asset movement in the field.

Abstract

The management and performance evaluation of church administrators (church elders) are essential aspects of improving the effectiveness of ministry within the church. Performance assessments that are still conducted subjectively often result in inaccuracies when evaluating the suitability of responsibilities with each administrator's capabilities. This study aims to evaluate and determine the appropriate placement of church administrators based on their ministry performance using the Assignment method implemented through the QM for Windows application. The Assignment method is employed to optimize the allocation of church administrators to the most suitable ministry areas based on predetermined performance scores. This research adopts a quantitative approach by collecting performance data for each administrator according to several evaluation criteria, which are then processed using the Assignment feature in QM for Windows to obtain an optimal solution. The results indicate that the Assignment method is capable of providing objective and efficient recommendations for assigning church administrators, ensuring that each ministry area is staffed by individuals whose performance best matches the required responsibilities. Therefore, the implementation of this method can assist church leaders in making more accurate, transparent, and measurable decisions while enhancing the overall effectiveness of church ministry.
