Abstract

One practice in understanding the Al-Qur’an that has grown rapidly in the digital age is “Qur’an journaling.” This practice has become particularly appealing to the younger generation because it addresses issues of mental health and visual aesthetics that are close to their hearts. However, over time, this activity has undergone a transformation from being a platform for self-reflection to a space for economic gain. This is referred to as a form of economic commodification by Vincent Mosco. This study uses qualitative research methods with library research as the object of study. Meanwhile, data obtained from journals, Instagram, or related documents will be processed using a descriptive-analytical concept. This research shows that there is a form of content commodification on the Sahal Qur’an journaling platform. This form of content commodification can be seen in the transformation of Qur’anic reflection content into digital products that can be traded and generate economic value for certain parties.
