Abstract

Organizations are rapidly adopting HR analytics to support data-driven decision making. Yet much of the existing literature treats the use of analytics tools as evidence of organizational capability, leaving the distinction between adoption and capability largely unexamined. This study addresses this limitation by mapping the intellectual structure of HR analytics research through an adoption-to-capability perspective. Using a systematic integrative literature review of 138 peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2026, we examine how HR analytics is applied across HR functions, which outcomes are reported, and which barriers persist across organizational contexts. The findings show that HR analytics research is concentrated on operational and managerial applications, particularly recruitment, retention, and performance management, and is mainly supported by descriptive and limited predictive analytics. Reported outcomes emphasize efficiency, performance improvement, and decision quality, while strategic contributions remain weakly evidenced. Persistent challenges related to skills, data infrastructure, governance, and conceptual fragmentation continue to constrain deeper capability development. Overall, the literature reflects early to intermediate stages of HR analytics capability maturity.

Abstract

Digital transformation is reshaping competition in service industries by shifting emphasis from mere technology adoption to the development of marketing capabilities. However, existing research is fragmented and lacks a cross-sector perspective on how digital service marketing capabilities evolve. This study investigates the core capabilities emerging across service sectors and how they are strategically developed. Using a qualitative systematic literature review of 22 Scopus-indexed articles published between 2021 and 2026, the research applies abstract-based thematic analysis. Five key capabilities are identified: communication, customer interaction, platform ecosystem management, analytics, and service experience design. The findings also reveal sector-specific variations across platform, tourism, and banking industries. Importantly, the evolution of these capabilities occurs through gradual capability building and integration rather than through isolated technology adoption. The study concludes that long-term competitiveness in digital service environments depends on strategically developing and integrating marketing capabilities, not simply implementing digital tools alone for sustainable future growth.

Abstract

Digital transformation is reshaping service industries and increasing the importance of marketing capabilities for maintaining competitiveness in digitally mediated environments. This study presents a structured systematic literature review of research on digital service marketing capabilities using an abstract-based analysis of 22 Scopus-indexed studies published between 2021 and 2026. The review identifies five dominant capability types: communication capability, customer interaction capability, platform ecosystem capability, analytics capability, and service experience capability. The findings indicate that communication capability remains the most frequently discussed, while analytics and platform capabilities represent emerging directions. Sectoral analysis shows variations across industries, with platform sectors emphasizing ecosystem participation, tourism focusing on customer experience, and banking highlighting analytics and relationship management. The review also suggests that digital marketing capabilities tend to develop progressively through capability building, integration, and strategic transformation rather than simple technology adoption. These findings contribute to understanding digital service marketing capability development and provide implications for future research.Digital transformation is reshaping service industries and increasing the importance of marketing capabilities for maintaining competitiveness in digitally mediated environments.
