Abstract

The availability of clean water is a fundamental necessity that supports religious activities, sanitation, and community life. Al-Khair Mosque in Taman Bentiring Residence Housing, Bengkulu City, experienced limited access to clean water, affecting worship activities and religious social programs. The “One Drop of Water, Millions of Benefits” Community Service Program aimed to provide a sustainable clean water source through community-based borewell construction supported by public participation and philanthropic initiatives. The implementation method included field surveys, community outreach, fundraising, borewell construction, water installation, and program evaluation through observation, documentation, and interviews. The results showed that the program successfully improved access to clean water, enhanced the implementation of worship services, strengthened community participation, and fostered a culture of mutual cooperation in managing public facilities. This program demonstrates that collaboration among higher education institutions, mosque administrators, local communities, and donors can establish a sustainable community empowerment model that has the potential to be replicated in other areas facing similar challenges.

Abstract

Safe and sustainable drinking water services require distribution network planning supported by accurate spatial data. This study aimed to develop a pipeline network survey and mapping plan for the Subdistrict Capital Water Supply System (SPAM IKK) in Ketahun, North Bengkulu Regency, as the basis for preparing a Detail Engineering Design (DED). A quantitative descriptive approach with field surveys was employed by collecting topographic, land-use, road network, utility, settlement, and elevation data using GPS, GIS, and EPANET hydraulic modeling. The results indicate that pipeline routes following existing road corridors provide greater construction and operational efficiency. Projected water demand reached approximately 40 L/s at the end of the planning period, while hydraulic simulation confirmed that pressure and flow velocity satisfied technical standards for water supply systems. The integration of field surveys, digital mapping, and hydraulic simulation provides an accurate and effective basis for sustainable drinking water distribution planning.

Abstract

The utilization of fly ash and bottom ash as alternative materials in construction has expanded in response to sustainability imperatives and increasing volumes of industrial by-products. This study consolidates and critically organizes existing scientific knowledge to clarify the relationships between material characteristics, mechanical performance, and sustainability considerations associated with fly ash and bottom ash. The analysis demonstrates that their mechanical behavior is highly dependent on physical–chemical properties, mixture design, and environmental context, indicating that performance cannot be generalized across applications. Although environmental benefits are frequently emphasized, sustainability is often framed in a simplified manner, with limited integration of life cycle impacts, social dimensions, and institutional constraints. The findings also reveal methodological inconsistencies and conceptual gaps that hinder knowledge transfer and practical implementation. By structuring dispersed evidence into a coherent analytical perspective, this study contributes to a clearer understanding of the conditions under which fly ash and bottom ash can be responsibly utilized. The outcomes provide a foundation for guiding future experimental development and supporting more informed decision-making in sustainable construction systems.

Abstract

Urban flooding represents a systemic risk emerging from the interaction between hydrological hazards, spatial transformation, and infrastructure vulnerability, demanding a management paradigm that transcends conventional engineering responses. This study develops a non-empirical conceptual framework for optimizing risk-based infrastructure management to strengthen urban flood resilience. The framework integrates infrastructure asset lifecycle management, disaster risk theory, and urban governance into a multilayer analytical model that explains causal relations among planning, implementation, maintenance, and adaptive capacity. A systematic literature synthesis and thematic-critical analysis were employed to construct stable conceptual propositions and evaluate internal coherence across disciplines. Findings indicate that preventive planning, adaptive asset management, institutional coordination, and participatory monitoring operate as interdependent mechanisms that reduce system fragility and enhance operational learning. The proposed model provides an analytical structure for evaluating infrastructure effectiveness without dependence on a single empirical context while preserving methodological rigor. This study contributes theoretically by linking risk governance with lifecycle infrastructure management and methodologically by offering a replicable conceptual synthesis for resilient urban systems.
