Abstract

Reinforcement joints have a significant impact on time and cost efficiency during construction. Commonly used connection methods are lap splice and mechanical coupler. The use of lap splice often results in high reinforcement density and prolongs the work duration, while mechanical coupler is considered capable of accelerating the installation process despite having higher material costs. This study aims to analyze the comparative time and cost efficiency between the mechanical coupler and lap splice methods in beam reinforcement connection work in Project X. The study used a comparative quantitative method with a case study approach through field observation, time study, interviews, and material and labor cost analysis, as well as quality assessment using a visual quality control (QC) checklist. The sample consisted of 30 points for each connection method. The results show that mechanical coupler has an average installation time of 2.11 minutes per point, faster than lap splice at 6.23 minutes per point. In terms of labor costs, mechanical coupler is more efficient, but material costs are higher. Overall, the mechanical coupler method is more effective in high-rise building projects that require accelerated implementation time. In addition, the use of this method also supports increasing the efficiency of public infrastructure development and is in line with sustainable development goals (SDGs) number 9, namely industry, innovation, and infrastructure. Abstrak ABSTRAK Sambungan tulangan memiliki pengaruh penting terhadap efisiensi waktu dan biaya saat pelaksanaan konstruksi. Metode sambungan yang umum digunakan adalah lap splice dan mechanical coupler. Penggunaan lap splice sering menimbulkan kepadatan tulangan yang tinggi dan memperpanjang durasi pekerjaan, sedangkan mechanical coupler dinilai mampu mempercepat proses pemasangan meskipun memiliki biaya material yang lebih tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbandingan efisiensi waktu dan biaya antara metode mechanical coupler dan lap splice pada pekerjaan sambungan tulangan balok di Proyek X. Penelitian menggunakan metode kuantitatif komparatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus melalui observasi lapangan, time study, wawancara, serta analisis biaya material dan tenaga kerja, serta penilaian mutu menggunakan checklist visual quality control (QC). Sampel terdiri dari 30 titik setiap metode sambungan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa mechanical coupler memiliki rata-rata waktu pemasangan 2,11 menit per titik, lebih cepat dibandingkan lap splice sebesar 6,23 menit per titik. Dari sisi biaya tenaga kerja, mechanical coupler lebih efisien, namun biaya materialnya lebih tinggi. Secara keseluruhan, metode mechanical coupler lebih efektif diterapkan pada proyek gedung bertingkat yang membutuhkan percepatan waktu pelaksanaan. Selain itu, penggunaan metode ini juga mendukung peningkatan efisiensi pembangunan infrastruktur umum dan sejalan dengan tujuan pembangunan berkelanjutan (sustainable development goals/SDGs) nomor 9, yaitu industri, inovasi, dan infrastruktur.
