This study aims to analyze in-depth the role of social workers in providing social rehabilitation services for former commercial sex workers (CSWs) at the Mattiro Deceng Community Service Unit (UPT PPSKW), Makassar, to address complex issues such as social stigma, trauma, and limited skills. This study employed a mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory model, employing a qualitative phenomenological approach as the primary method for exploring in-depth experiences. Quantitative data were used through a Likert-scale questionnaire survey to strengthen the findings. The analysis showed that social workers at the Mattiro Deceng UPT PPSKW optimally implemented eight professional roles. All roles were categorized as very frequently performed: Enabler (mean 4.46), Broker (4.45), Counselor (4.6), Mediator (4.42), Educator (4.5), Advocate (4.2), Case Manager (4.4), and Change Agent (4.4). The Counselor role received the highest score (4.6), indicating a primary focus on the psychological recovery of beneficiaries. In contrast, the Advocate role received the lowest score (4.2), reflecting the presence of structural barriers or challenges in the rights advocacy process. Overall, the integration of qualitative and quantitative data confirms that the implementation of these eight roles significantly contributes to the psychosocial recovery, skills development, and successful social reintegration of former sex workers into society.
