Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of profitability and firm size on financial performance in manufacturing companies within the food and beverage sub-sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2020–2024 period. The research adopts a quantitative approach using secondary data derived from annual financial statements. From a population of sixteen companies, eight firms were selected through purposive sampling, resulting in 40 firm-year observations. Profitability is proxied by Net Profit Margin (NPM), firm size is measured by total assets, and financial performance is proxied by Return on Assets (ROA). Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression after passing classical assumption tests, including normality, heteroscedasticity, multicollinearity, and autocorrelation tests. The results indicate that profitability has a positive and significant effect on financial performance. Firm size also demonstrates a positive and significant influence on financial performance. Simultaneously, profitability and firm size significantly explain variations in ROA, with an adjusted R² value of 0.428, indicating moderate explanatory power. These findings support signalling theory, suggesting that profitability and firm size function as important signals reflecting operational efficiency and financial stability. The study contributes empirical evidence regarding the determinants of financial performance in Indonesia’s food and beverage manufacturing sub-sector and provides practical implications for corporate management and investors.

Abstract

The competitiveness of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) has become an important factor in sustaining business growth in the increasingly competitive digital economy. This study aims to analyze the effect of digital competence and partnership on the competitiveness of culinary MSMEs in Kepenuhan District. The research employed a quantitative approach with an associative design. The population consisted of 34 culinary MSMEs registered in Kepenuhan District, and the sampling technique used was saturated sampling, in which all members of the population were included as research samples. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS software. The results showed that digital competence had a positive and significant effect on competitiveness, with a significance value of 0.001. Partnership also had a positive and significant effect on competitiveness, with a significance value of 0.000. Simultaneously, digital competence and partnership significantly influenced competitiveness, as indicated by the F-test value of 38.401 with a significance level of 0.000. The coefficient of determination showed that both variables explained 69.4% of the variation in competitiveness. These findings indicate that improving digital competence and strengthening partnerships are important strategies to enhance the competitiveness of culinary MSMEs. Strengthening these aspects can help MSMEs expand market access, improve business performance, and adapt to the dynamics of the digital economy.

Abstract

The agricultural sector plays an essential role in supporting food security and improving rural community welfare in Indonesia. However, agricultural productivity in many rural areas remains relatively low due to limited human resource capacity, inadequate adoption of agricultural technology, and insufficient technical guidance for farmers. This study aims to analyze the influence of training and mentoring on the productivity of rice farmers in Rambah Muda Village, Rambah Hilir District, Rokan Hulu Regency. The research employed a quantitative approach with a causal associative design. The population consisted of 120 farmers, while the sample comprised 50 respondents determined using the Slovin formula with a 10% margin of error. Data were collected through questionnaires using a Likert scale and supported by observation and informal interviews. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS software. The results show that training has a positive and significant effect on farmers’ productivity (t = 4.742; p < 0.05), while mentoring also has a positive and significant effect (t = 2.579; p < 0.05). Simultaneously, training and mentoring significantly influence farmers’ productivity (F = 29.874; p < 0.05). The coefficient of determination indicates that 82.9% of farmers’ productivity can be explained by the variables of training and mentoring. These findings suggest that capacity-building programs through structured training and continuous mentoring play a strategic role in improving farmers’ productivity and supporting sustainable food security at the local level (Dessler, 2020; Mardikanto, 2018; FAO, 2021). Therefore, agricultural development policies should emphasize integrated farmer empowerment programs that combine knowledge transfer with field-based mentoring to enhance agricultural productivity and rural welfare.
