Abstract

Abstract: Dhikr is an important spiritual practice in Islam that connects the servant with Allah SWT both outwardly and inwardly. One of the dhikr traditions that has developed strongly in the Nusantara region, especially in South Kalimantan, is the “dzikir 7 laksa,” which involves reciting the tahlil phrase “Lā ilāha illā Allāh” 70,000 times. This article examines dzikir 7 laksa from a Sufi perspective by studying its scriptural basis and spiritual wisdom. Through the study of classical texts and the stories of Sufi scholars such as Sheikh Ibn ‘Arabi and Sayyid Muhammad Amin Kutbi, dzikir 7 laksa is understood not merely as a ritual for atonement but also as a process of purifying the heart (tazkiyatun nafs) and a path towards the knowledge of Allah (ma‘rifatullah). This practice has a strong social dimension in strengthening Islamic brotherhood (ukhuwah Islamiyah) within the community. A qualitative method with literature review is used to describe and analyze the meaning and function of dzikir 7 laksa as a manifestation of the living Sunnah among Muslims in the Nusantara. This study emphasizes the importance of preserving the tradition of dzikir as a profound spiritual heritage as well as a reinforcement of social solidarity. Abstract

The batatamba tradition of the Banjar people is not merely a form of traditional healing but a living manifestation of Islamic spirituality that unites the body, soul, and divine consciousness. This study aims to explore the Sufi meanings embedded within batatamba as a holistic healing model that continues to thrive amid the rise of modern medicine. Using a qualitative descriptive-reflective approach, the research combines participant observation, personal reflection, and in-depth interviews with patamba (traditional healers) and patients. The findings reveal that practices such as bapidara, batutungkal, minta banyu, batimung, manyamak, and baurut are not limited to physical therapy but embody spiritual dimensions of dhikr (remembrance of God), tawakkul (trust in God), tazkiyatun nafs (purification of the soul), and barakah (divine blessing), fostering inner peace and closeness to Allah Swt. The integration of Sufism and traditional medicine positions batatamba as a symbol of harmony between knowledge and faith, humanity and nature. Core values such as tawhid (divine unity), sincerity, compassion, and spiritual awareness reflect that batatamba is not simply a healing act, but a spiritual journey toward balance and wholeness. Thus, this tradition stands as a valuable heritage of Islam Nusantara deeply relevant for modern society in its search for true health: a state of physical well-being and spiritual serenity.
