Abstract

Art and Culture Learning is an important part of developing students' aesthetic competence, creativity, and expression which is often still carried out conventionally and does not actively involve students in the learning process. Along with the development of the 21st century learning paradigm, approaches that emphasize active student involvement and the development of 21st century skills such as collaboration, communication, and creativity are becoming increasingly relevant. One approach that has the potential to answer this challenge is Project-Based Learning (PjBL), which encourages students to learn through direct experience in designing and completing meaningful art projects. In the context of learning in grade VI of elementary school, this approach is expected to be able to improve students' competence in understanding and appreciating art and developing practical skills in creating art. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Project-Based Learning approach in Art and Culture learning and its impact on the development of student competence. The method used in this study is a qualitative study with a library research approach. The results of the study indicate that the application of PjBL in Art and Culture learning can increase student involvement, foster self-confidence, and strengthen the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Thus, the Project-Based Learning approach can be an alternative effective learning strategy to develop the Art and Culture competence of grade VI students of elementary school/MI.
