This study focuses on transforming the learning of Ushul Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence Principles) as a variant of the yellow book tradition through contextualizing its structural and epistemological characteristics. The research addresses why the learning of yellow books necessitates transformation via the contextualization of Ushul Fiqh's structure and epistemological character. Employing a qualitative literature study approach on classical Ushul Fiqh texts, the findings reveal that Ushul Fiqh knowledge is built upon the foundation of al-mabadiy al-‘asyarah (the ten introductory principles). Its scholarly objective is to cultivate malakah (competence) in deriving subsidiary (furu’iyyah) Sharia rulings from detailed evidence (dalil tafshiliy) through a valid methodology. The structured learning outcomes comprise four core components: al-madlul (the signified meaning), al-dalalah (signification/implication), al-dalil (evidence), and al-mustadill (the process of inferring). The study's characteristics are classified according to the textual forms of matn (core primer), syarh (commentary), and hasyiyah (super-commentary). Consequently, transformative Ushul Fiqh learning must be reflected through a process involving conceptual, procedural, factual, and metacognitive analysis within the study of matn, syarh, and hasyiyah books, utilizing both inductive and deductive approaches. This study proposes a transformation model for yellow book learning to ensure its contemporary relevance.
