Abstract

The phenomenon of time constraints among individuals with high activity intensity reveals a gap between spiritual needs and access to da’wah. Full-time workers, full-day students, and highly mobile urban communities often experience physical fatigue and psychological pressure that limit participation in conventional da’wah forums. These conditions require a more adaptive, contextual, and experience-oriented approach to da’wah communication. This study aims to formulate an Adaptive Da’wah Communication Model as a conceptual framework responsive to the realities of contemporary society characterized by high activity intensity. Employing a qualitative approach through library research and thematic-constructive analysis within the perspective of da’wah communication, data were derived from scholarly literature in the fields of da’wah, communication, digital media, and social transformation. The findings indicate that the Adaptive Da’wah Communication Model is structured upon six core elements: (1) the existential condition of mad’u, (2) activity-based segmentation, (3) psychological message adjustment, (4) micro-content utilization, (5) digital media transformation, and (6) on-demand accessibility. The model is operationalized through a six-stage cyclical process, ranging from identifying the condition of mad’u to evaluating audience responses. This model enables da’wah communication to remain relevant, flexible, and effective within time-constrained and high-pressure social environments. The study contributes theoretically to the development of a more contextual, adaptive, and responsive framework in da’wah communication studies.

Abstract

A person's religiosity can be reflected through their understanding of Islamic teachings and the extent to which they practice them in daily life. Acts such as purification from impurities, performing ablution (wudu), and prayer (salah) often serve as indicators of a Muslim’s mastery of fard ‘ain knowledge. Fard ‘ain knowledge refers to the essential religious sciences that are obligatory for every Muslim to learn and practice, in contrast to fard kifayah knowledge, which is required only for certain individuals or groups to fulfill communal obligations. However, many Muslims tend to prioritize fard kifayah knowledge while neglecting fard ‘ain knowledge. This imbalance has become more apparent with the rise of digital media as a platform for acquiring and disseminating religious knowledge, including the practice of religious rituals online. Nevertheless, learning religion is not merely about consuming information; it requires verification and guidance from qualified scholars (ulama), religious teachers (ustadz), or Islamic instructors (teungku or muallim) to ensure the authenticity and correctness of religious understanding.Unsupervised access to religious materials on the internet may lead to misunderstandings, misinterpretations, and even misguidance. To address this issue, the implementation of the ta‘lim method is essential—an approach that emphasizes learning religion directly under the supervision of competent and credible ulama, ustadz, teungku, or muallim within their respective areas of expertise.

Abstract

: Gender-based violence (GBV) remains a serious issue in Aceh, with high prevalence in both domestic and public spheres. This phenomenon is rooted in structural gender inequality, patriarchal norms, and limited public awareness of justice and equality values. This study aims to formulate a conceptual model for GBV prevention through da’wah communication and community engagement, contextualized within Acehnese socio-cultural and religious norms. Through literature analysis, empirical data, and integration of da’wah communication theory with social change theory, the study finds that da’wah communication plays a dual role: as a medium of awareness-building that internalizes Islamic values (rahmatan lil ‘alamin, equality, and anti-violence) and as a means of social transformation that shifts community paradigms and behaviors. The proposed model emphasizes four key factors: gender-just da’wah content, contextual delivery methods, the credibility of da’i as moral exemplars, and sensitivity to local socio-cultural values. Community involvement is crucial in strengthening social solidarity, providing safe spaces, and fostering collective awareness to reject GBV. The study recommends strengthening the capacity of da’i, developing gender-sensitive da’wah materials, enhancing multi-stakeholder collaboration, and utilizing digital media to broaden outreach. Thus, this conceptual model can serve as a strategic reference for local government, religious institutions, and community organizations to build a just, safe, and gender-based violence–free social environment.

Abstract

Contemporary moral dynamics in Aceh indicate that the existence of regulations and law enforcement is not fully sufficient to foster moral awareness and character development in a sustainable manner. Issues such as sexual violence, drug abuse, harmful use of digital media, and other social problems have legal as well as educational, cultural, and ethical dimensions. This article aims to formulate a conceptual model of the Islamic Higher Education Ethical Ecosystem as a paradigm for developing academic community members in responding to contemporary moral dynamics in Aceh. The study employs a library research method with a qualitative-conceptual approach. Data were obtained from relevant regulations, books, scholarly articles, and official documents and were analyzed through content analysis and conceptual analysis. The findings indicate that the ethical ecosystem is constructed through the interrelationship of four main elements: character education, academic culture, da'wah as ethical praxis, and institutional collaboration. These four elements are oriented toward the realization of public welfare (maṣlaḥah) from the perspective of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah. In this model, Islamic higher education institutions are not positioned as law-enforcement institutions, but as centers of value transformation through education, research, community engagement, and the development of academic culture. This article offers a conceptual contribution in the form of the Islamic Higher Education Ethical Ecosystem as a preventive paradigm that connects individual development, institutional culture, and social collaboration in fostering academic communities that are knowledgeable, virtuous, academically integrated, and socially responsible.
