ABSTRACT Kasongan Tourism Village in Bantul Regency is a center of the pottery-based creative economy, possessing strong historical and sociological value. This study aims to analyze a model of community empowerment through a sociopreneurship-based creative economy, as well as the challenges to its sustainability from the perspective of social studies education in Kasongan Tourism Village, Bantul Regency. The study employs a qualitative approach using a case study design. Research informants were selected using purposive sampling and included pottery business owners, artisans, community leaders, and village officials who understand the development of the Kasongan pottery industry. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results indicate that the sociopreneurship model in Kasongan has developed through the strengthening of social capital, family-based division of labor, preservation of local culture, and market-oriented product innovation. Nevertheless, the industry’s sustainability still faces challenges in the form of dependence on raw materials from outside the region, climate change, and low digital marketing literacy. This study offers practical contributions as input for local governments and MSME actors in designing community empowerment strategies based on the creative economy, while also enriching academic research on the implementation of sociopreneurship in the traditional handicraft industry from the perspective of Social Studies education.
