Abstract

Schools provide environments where children interact with various individuals, including teachers and peers. These interactions facilitate the development of social skills, empathy, and understanding of others. Peers, in particular, exert considerable influence on the formation of children's character. Interactions among peers can shape the behaviors and attitudes students adopt. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of peer influence in cultivating children's character in school settings. The research employs a literature review methodology, which involves identifying, studying, evaluating, and interpreting relevant literature. Peers play a significant role in character formation by contributing to moral development, providing social and emotional support, and teaching essential social skills. Furthermore, peers can act as social agents for one another. The school environment serves as a critical context for identity formation, as it is the primary setting where children develop their sense of self after the family. Thus, the role of peers in character development within schools is of substantial importance.
