Abstract

This study aims to map the characteristics of the Human Development Index for districts and cities in West Nusa Tenggara Province in 2024 using biplot analysis. This study employs a quantitative descriptive research design. The data used in this study are secondary data, namely the 2024 Human Development Index data. The analysis was conducted using biplot analysis. Based on the analysis carried out, the results show that the clustering map obtained explains 95.42% of the total variance in the data. Four regional groups with similar characteristics were identified: Quadrant I comprises three regencies/cities—East Lombok Regency, Sumbawa Regency, and Bima Regency—based on Infant Mortality Rate. Group 2 comprises two regencies/cities—Central Lombok Regency, Dompu Regency, and Bima City—based on Average Years of Schooling. Group 3 comprises 3 regencies/cities: West Lombok Regency, West Sumbawa Regency, and Mataram City, based on life expectancy, expected years of schooling, the open unemployment rate, and real per capita expenditure. Group 4 comprises one regency/city: North Lombok Regency, based on the poverty rate.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the impact of local revenue (PAD), capital expenditure, transfer funds, and the open unemployment rate (TPT) on the economic growth rate of regencies and cities in West Nusa Tenggara Province for the period 2020–2024. This study employs a quantitative approach using secondary data in the form of panel data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The analysis method used is panel data regression with the aid of the Eviews application; the best model selected is the Fixed Effects Model (FEM). Simultaneously, PAD, capital expenditure, transfer funds, and TPT have a significant effect on the economic growth rate. Partially, PAD and transfer funds have a positive but insignificant effect on the economic growth rate, whilst capital expenditure and TPT have a negative and significant effect on the economic growth rate.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of economic growth, minimum wage, and the Human Development Index (HDI) on the open unemployment rate in West Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia, from 2019 to 2023. Using a quantitative descriptive approach with panel data regression, the analysis covers 10 districts/cities over a five-year period. The Fixed Effect Model (FEM) was selected based on the results of the Chow and Hausman tests. The findings indicate that economic growth has a negative and significant effect on the open unemployment rate, suggesting that increased economic activity can contribute to job creation. In contrast, the minimum wage and HDI do not show a significant impact on unemployment. The simultaneous F-test, however, reveals that all three variables collectively have a significant influence on the open unemployment rate. The adjusted R-squared value of 0.621 implies that the model explains a substantial portion of the unemployment variation. The results highlight the importance of fostering inclusive economic growth to effectively reduce unemployment, while suggesting that wage and development policies require complementary labor market strategies to be impactful.

Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze the influence of population, education level, and unemployment rate partially and simultaneously on poverty levels in all districts and cities in West Nusa Tenggara Province. The West Nusa Tenggara Central Statistics Agency provided the secondary data used in this investigation. The data analyzed is in the form of panel data, covering the period 2017 to 2023 according to Regency/City in West Nusa Tenggara Province. To analyze the relationship between independent variables and dependent variables, this study uses the panel data regression method. The study's findings indicate that population and education levels have a strong detrimental impact on poverty. This means that an increase in population and higher education levels tend to reduce poverty levels. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate also has a negative effect on poverty, but the effect is not significant, which means that the increase in unemployment does not directly have a major impact on poverty levels in the areas studied.
