Abstract

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in 2020, the incidence of emesis gravidarum reached 12.5% of all pregnancies worldwide. Indonesia accounts for 50-59% of the incidence of nausea and vomiting experienced by pregnant women. Acupressure at Pericardium Point 6 is effective in reducing nausea and vomiting. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of acupressure at Pericardium Point 6 (P6) on emesis gravidarum in first-trimester pregnant women in the Belimbing Padang Community Health Center work area in 2025. This study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest and posttest design. The study was conducted from March to August 2025 in the Belimbing Padang Community Health Center work area. The population was all 64 first-trimester pregnant women who visited the Belimbing Padang Community Health Center in March 2025. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Data were collected using a 24-hour PUQE questionnaire and observation sheets. Univariate and bivariate analyses were used using the T-test. The results showed that the average emesis gravidarum score before and after acupressure at pericardium point 6 (P6) was 11.56, and after 6.06 in pregnant women in the first trimester. There was an influence of acupressure at pericardium point 6 (P6) on emesis gravidarum in pregnant women in the first trimester in the Belimbing Padang Community Health Center working area in 2025. The conclusion of this study is that acupressure at pericardium point 6 (P6) can reduce the frequency of emesis gravidarum in pregnant women in the first trimester. It is hoped that midwives in obstetrics rooms can implement acupressure at pericardium point 6 (P6) as an alternative therapy to help reduce or manage emesis gravidarum.
