The Dayak Tamambaloh community in Temau Village, Embaloh Hulu Subdistrict, Kapuas Hulu District, West Kalimantan Province, Indonesia, still maintains local wisdom in utilizing plants as basic ingredients for traditional medicine. In the process of traditional medicine, the Tamambaloh Dayak people use the local lexicon. However, local knowledge related to traditional medicine in the Tamambaloh Dayak tribe is only conveyed orally from generation to generation and does not have written scientific documentation. This study aimed to record local traditional medicinal plants, lexicon, phonetics and the function of medicinal plants used by the Dayak Tamambaloh community. This study used the descriptive qualitative method. Research data were obtained through in-depth interviews and documentation. Informants in this study were traditional leaders, village midwives, shamans, and people who often use medicinal plants. Analysis of research data was to describe the spoken language of the medicinal plant lexicon into written language using elan, classifying, describing, analyzing, and interpreting the results of research on the lexicon and the function of medicinal plants in traditional medicine in the Dayak Tamambaloh community. The results obtained 33 medicinal plant lexicons, 33 medicinal plant functions, and 25 medicinal plant species in 24 families. The most widely used families were Arecaceae (2 species), Asteraceae (2 species), Blechnaceae (2 species), Bombacaceae (2 species), Liliaceae (2 species), Myrtaceae (2 species), Piperaceae (2 species), Rubiaceae (2 species), and Solanaceae (2 species). The results of this study become the basis for preserving traditional medicine in remote tribes that still maintain local wisdom.

Animals ethnozoology as traditional medicine in the Dayak Tamambaloh Tribe, Labian Ira'ang Village, Kapuas Hulu District, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 24: 26-33. The Dayak Tamambaloh community in Labian Ira'ang Village, Kapuas Hulu District, Indonesia, is a community that has traditional knowledge of the use of fauna. However, at this time this knowledge has been reduced or relegated by the times and the use of animals and has never had a written document. This study aimed to obtain the types of animals used by the Dayak Tamambaloh people for treatment. The method used was a survey. Data was collected through literature studies, semi-structured interviews, and field observations. Data on using animals as traditional medicine was obtained from main informants, key informants, and recommendation informants. Data analysis was descriptive and qualitative, including data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results obtained 13 types of animals in 13 families that are used as traditional medicine by the Tamambaloh Dayak people. The types of animals used in traditional medicine were wanyi (Apis cerana), asu (Canis lupus familiaris), kandalak (Channa striata), panang (Clarias sp.), bunsok (Gekko gecko), dingkawat (Hipposideros larvatus), lati loman (Lumbricus terrestris), tangkiling (Manis javanica), takiung (Sulcospira testudinaria), manuk (Gallus gallus domesticus), ular sawa (Malayopython reticulatus), lundung (Monopterus albus), and beruang (Ursus thibetanus). Animal families used as traditional medicine were Apidae (1 spesies), Canidae (1 spesies), Channidae (1 spesies), Clariidae (1 spesies), Gekkonidae (1 spesies), Hipposideridae (1 spesies), Lumbricidae (1 spesies), Manidae (1 spesies), Pachychilidae (1 spesies), Phasianidae (1 spesies), Pythonidae (1 spesies), Synbranchidae (1 spesies), and Ursidae (1 spesies). The Dayak Tamambaloh people use meat, bile, scales, shells, egg whites, wax, and all parts of animals for traditional medicine.

The Linoh Dayak people have long used medicinal plants to deal with health problems in their community. However, along with the advancement of science, the influx of foreign cultures and the degradation of nature and the environment, traditional knowledge about medicinal plants is only owned by the older generation, and the transmission of information is limited by word of mouth and not well documented. This study aimed to document various medicinal plants used by the Dayak Linoh people. The research used a qualitative approach using field surveys. Informants were selected using the purposive sampling method. The informants interviewed consisted of customary leaders (key informants), village heads (main informants), and recommended informants, such as traditional birth attendants (village midwives), hamlet heads, and community members who know medicinal plants. Medicinal plant data were obtained through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation related to the local names of the plants, the parts used, and how to manage and use them. Data analysis was carried out in a qualitative descriptive manner. The results showed that 55 species of medicinal plants consisting of 34 plant families were used by the Dayak Linoh tribe. The most widely used part of the plant is the leaf (39, 71%). People in the community boiled the leaves and drank the extract. The most used families in the three tribal communities of the Dayak Linoh tribe, were Zingiberaceae (9 species) and Myrtaceae (3 species). The plant parts used by the Dayak Linoh tribe were root, tuber, rhizome, stem, bark, banana heart, fruit, fruit skin, leaf, and seed. The Dayak Linoh tribe used medicinal plants to treat boil (7 plants) and for postpartum stamina recovery (7 plants). The communities processed and used the medicinal herbs conventionally by boiling and drinking.
