Abstract

Indonesia has a tropical climate, resulting in hot and humid weather throughout the year. This increases the need for air conditioning (AC), especially in various buildings such as offices and production sites. AC plays a crucial role in maintaining user comfort, safety, and health. However, AC components are often not regularly maintained. This study explores the impACt of preventive maintenance on the performance and efficiency of electricity use in a split wall AC cooling system at PT. Hanjaya Mandala Sampoerna Tbk, using the coefficient of performance (COP) and energy efficiency ratio (EER) methods. The results show that COP efficiency increased by 1.44 after maintenance compared to before. EER efficiency increased by 2.83 after maintenance compared to before. Electricity cost efficiency increased by Rp 5,809.25,-.

Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of preventive maintenance on Schneider TC300 AC control thermostats and Fan Coil Units (FCU) in 488 rooms at the Fairmont Hotel Jakarta. The main problem addressed is the high number of guest complaints regarding non-cooling air conditioners, with initial data recording approximately 300 problematic rooms, 200 thermostat errors, and 100 damaged FCU units. The research method employs a descriptive quantitative case study approach through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review. The findings show that preventive maintenance in the form of inspection, parameter adjustment, temperature calibration, and minor repairs successfully reduced guest complaints to 10 rooms, thermostat errors to 5 units, and problematic FCUs to 5 units.

Abstract

The electrical installation system planning in the MAKO PASPAMPRES building was carried out to meet the high power needs due to technological developments and the complexity of modern equipment. Considering the very vital function of the building, the electrical system must be designed to be reliable, efficient, and meet safety standards to avoid power supply disruptions. This study uses a MATLAB-based calculation method. Based on the calculation results, a total power of 442,116.8 Watts was obtained with a load current of 839.683 Amperes, a voltage of 380 Volts, and a power factor of 0.8. The total cable resistance value is 0.36439 ohms, which causes a voltage drop of 14.543 Volts or 3.83%, still below the maximum allowable limit of 5%. In addition, the power losses that occurred were 16,921.62 Watts or around 3.83% of the total power. These results indicate that the planned electrical installation system has met the efficiency and reliability criteria, so it is suitable for application in the MAKO PASPAMPRES building.
