Abstract

The spatial structure is a manifestation of the utilization of urban space. In the development of a city, spatial structure become one of the elements that can be viewed in determining the direction, shape, and the change of these developments. Makassar City is a city with views of growth history of this period the city of Makassar starting from the kingdom of Gowa-Tallo period until now, Makassar city has far developed into one of the modern city. Therefore, we can see how the spatial structure formed in the period of kingdom until now or may be called the period of reformation. This research was conducted with a literature review as the basis for the preparation of research reports that can identify the spatial structure developments in Makassar City based on above period and knowing the factors that influence these developments. This study found out the history of the development of Makassar City, spatial sructure theory, and urban morphology. This research aims to identify the spatial structure in Makassar City started from pra-colonial period until the reformation period. The research variable component consists of studies on the urban spatial structure base on theory such as the location of central business development (CBD), space utilization and urban morphology such as land use and street pattern. Then these variables were analyzed descriptively by looking at the development of Makassar City started from the pra-colonial or kingdom period until reformation period. Analysis method used in this case concerned a history analysis and photo mapping analysis to show mapping of these variable component. Then, the factors that influence the development of spatial structure in Makassar City, the variable component refers to the variable component of the development of their own spatial structure with using the same analysis tools.

Abstract

Commercial activity is one activity that can cause a great rise of the movement. Raise of this movement affect the increased volume of traffic and eventually cause a traffic jam. There are two locations that can be direct identified in Jl. Perintis Kemerdekaan that is the road ahead M'Tos and Pasar Mandai. One important factor is the cause of the side friction. This research aims to determine how much influence of side friction to the level of service in Jl. Perintis Kemerdekaan. The variables are discussed in this research consisted of variable side friction consisting of pedestrian, vehicle stops, vehicles exits and entries to roadside and slow vehicles. The second variable is the level of service which consists of traffic volume and road capacity. Last variable is the identification of the geometric characteristics of the road way. The analysis used the analysis of the characteristics of the road, side friction analysis and analysis of the level of service roads. The results of this research is the level of service on the road ahead M'Tos in the category less than ideal due to the high volume of traffic at peak hours and then met with high side friction on average. While on the road ahead Pasar Mandai, service levels are somewhat ideal category so that traffic jam on the roads has not been taken into account.

Abstract

Generally, the growth point of big cities in Indonesia was started from the waterfront. This fact is related to Indonesia as archipelagic country that makes its location more strategic. Makassar and Kendari is the waterfront city but have different forms. Makassar is formed by elongated coastline while Kendari formed by the bay. However, the two cities have in common as a trading city. This study use qualitative and quantitative analysis approach comparing their form to find the similarities and differences their morphology. The variable of this study consist of land use, population density, intensity of land use, urban centers and road network systems forming morphplogy of city. The result of comparison of the two cities shows population density of Makassar is greater than Kendari. Population and topography influence the hierarchy of urban centers in both cities. On the other hand, the both of cities have different in land use pattern, such as green open space, housing and industry, influenced by distance of shoreline. Building coverage ratio in the waterfront area, downtown and new development of Makassar is higher than Kendari in the same areas.

The numbers of samples of this research are 210. Samples selection used nonprobability purposive sampling technique by means of type purposive and accidental sampling. Data were collected by observation method and questionnaire with Likert Scale. Data analysis methods used was the frequency distribution analysis and multinomial regression analysis. This research aimed to khow how the characteristic of the visitors in Public Space of Kota Mara. The results of this study outlines that 1) Based on social characteristics of visitor Kota Mara is dominated by adult (17-25 years). The majority gender of visitor is male, background of educational is undergraduate student and the majority of background job is student. 2) Based on visiting characteristics of visitor Kota Mara are dominated by the visiting is not the first time, with the purpose of the visit to relax/hang out with friends or family, and the majority of the intensity of the visit is 2-7 times a week.
