Abstract

This study aims to examine the development of emotional regulation in elementary school children aged 7-12 within the school environment. Emotional regulation constitutes a critical component of children’s social and emotional development, as it significantly influences their interactions with both peers and teachers. The study employs a literature review method by analyzing various scholarly articles, academic journals, and other relevant sources. Data collection is conducted through systematic searching, selection, and analysis of literature related to emotional regulation in school aged children. The findings indicate that children’s emotional regulation abilities develop progressively in accordance with their age and are shaped by their social environment. School related factors, including the role of teachers and peer interactions, are found to have a substantial influence on this development. Therefore, a supportive school environment is essential to facilitate children’s ability to manage their emotions effectively.
