Abstract

The implementation of animated videos as a learning medium was examined to identify its influence on the discipline and learning interest of fifth-grade students at MIN 1 Sarolangun, particularly in response to the low level of student engagement and discipline observed during classroom activities. A quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design was applied in this study. The participants involved were 30 fifth-grade students selected through the total sampling technique. Questionnaires, observations, and documentation were utilized to obtain the research data. The instrument used consisted of a Likert-scale questionnaire that had fulfilled validity and reliability requirements. Data processing employed descriptive statistical analysis and paired sample t-test assisted by SPSS version 25. Following the use of animated videos, the mean score of students’ learning interest rose from 62.4 to 84.7, while learning discipline improved from 60.1 to 78.2. Statistical testing produced a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 with a t-count of 5.321 > t-table, confirming the acceptance of the proposed hypothesis. These findings indicate that animated videos had a significant effect on both students’ discipline and learning interest at MIN 1 Sarolangun. In addition, the study supports the advancement of innovative technology-based instructional media aimed at improving learning quality in Islamic elementary schools.
