Abstract

This study is motivated by suboptimal student learning discipline and frequent school rule violations, which are presumed to impact the low learning outcomes in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS). The purpose of this research is to determine the levels of learning discipline and learning outcomes, and to empirically examine the relationship between these two variables among fifth-grade students at SDN 5 Singkawang. This research employs a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The population consists of all fifth-grade students at SDN 5 Singkawang, using a saturated sampling technique with a total sample of 49 students. Data were collected through closed-ended questionnaires using the Guttman scale for learning discipline and multiple-choice tests for IPAS learning outcomes. Data analysis involved descriptive percentages, mean scores, and hypothesis testing using Pearson Product-Moment correlation and the coefficient of determination. The results indicate that: (1) student learning discipline is in the "fairly good" category (53.27%); (2) IPAS learning outcomes are categorized as "low" (53.1); and (3) there is a positive, significant relationship between learning discipline and IPAS outcomes. This is evidenced by a correlation coefficient of 0.50 (moderate) and tvalue (3.98522) > ttable (1.68). The coefficient of determination shows that learning discipline contributes 25.26% to IPAS learning outcomes.
