Abstract

This study aims to explain how science learning is implemented for third-grade elementary school students based on the Independent Curriculum. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, semistructured interviews with class teachers, and document analysis, including teaching modules and learning activity notes. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana. This process includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions and verification. Data validity was guaranteed through technical triangulation. This research was conducted at SDN Jambangan with the class teacher, Mrs. Yenny Eka. The research showed that the implementation of science learning for third-grade students under the Independent Curriculum used a structured open module. The module contained Learning Outcomes, Learning Objectives, and Learning Objective Flow. Teachers used scientific methods, active learning strategies, local wisdom, and differentiated learning through remedial and enrichment programs. The use of media and learning resources was considered very good, but teacher preparation and assessment tools still need improvement. Therefore, joint support from schools, education offices, and teachers is needed to maximize the implementation of third-grade science and education learning within the Independent Curriculum in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of environment-based science learning in increasing the participation of fourth-grade students at MIN 16 Magetan. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation involving teachers and fourth-grade students as research subjects. The results of the study indicate that environment-based science learning has begun to be implemented by linking learning materials to everyday life and the students' surroundings. Teachers use storytelling methods, group discussions, and presentations to increase student involvement in the learning process. Group discussion activities encourage students to exchange opinions, ask questions, and work together in completing worksheets related to cultural diversity material. Presentation activities also help students become more confident in presenting discussion results in front of the class. However, student participation is still uneven because some students tend to be passive and depend on their group mates. Overall, environment-based science learning can make learning more meaningful, interesting, and interactive and can increase student participation in the learning process.
