Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze students' learning interest and achievement in general and religious subjects at SDIT Mutiara Insan Sorong. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects were two teachers, namely one general subject teacher and one religious subject teacher (Islamic Education), selected purposively based on their experience and direct involvement in the learning process. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews. Data were analyzed using the interactive analysis model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, which includes data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation and member checking. The results showed that: (1) students' learning interest in general subjects was fairly good and active-cognitive in nature, whereas in religious subjects it varied by grade level lower grades tended to enjoy fun approaches, while upper grades preferred contextual and reasoning approaches; (2) factors influencing learning interest included motivation, teaching methods, the support of an Islam-based school environment, and parental roles; (3) students' learning achievement in religious subjects was influenced by multidimensional assessment covering cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects; and (4) the integrated Islamic school environment with various Islamic habituation practices had a positive impact on students' interest in religious subjects. This study recommends the use of a contextual-integrative approach in learning at SDIT to optimize learning interest and achievement in both subject groups.
