Abstract

The novel Laskar Pelangi is often considered an educational medium, but research specifically on the values within it with the challenges of the Society 5.0 era based on Thomas Lickona's perspective is still limited. The phenomenon of moral crisis among adolescents in the digital era, such as the decline in communication ethics and the fading of spiritual values, makes character education very important as a basis for moral formation. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the integration of character education values in the novel and its relevance to the competencies needed in the Society 5.0 era. The study used a descriptive-analytical qualitative method with content analysis techniques. Data were analyzed through three moral dimensions according to Thomas Lickona, namely moral knowledge, moral feelings, and moral actions. The results of the study show that the values of hard work, an attitude of never giving up, creativity, and social concern are the main core in the story. Characters such as Lintang and Mahar are depicted not only as fictional characters, but also as representations of individuals who have the ability to think critically, empathize, and be honest in facing the complexities of digital life. Thus, this novel has proven effective as a character education medium to shape a generation that is not only proficient in technology, but also has a strong moral foundation amidst the current of global disruption.
