<![CDATA[Indonesian plays an important role as the national language, the official state language, and a unifying medium among the diverse ethnic, cultural, and linguistic communities of Indonesia. However, globalization, technological advancement, and the widespread use of digital media have created various challenges to the existence and proper use of the Indonesian language. This study aims to analyze the actualization of Indonesia as the national and state language, examine it's effectiveness as a unifying tool, review language use in social interactions from a sociolinguistic perspective, and identify the impact of globalization on the use of standard Indonesian. This research employs a qualitative method based on a literature review approach. Data were collected from books, academic journals, research articles, and official documents relevant to the research topic. The collected data were analyzed using content analysis techniques to identify and interpret information related to the role of Indonesian in social, national, and state life. The findings indicate that Indonesian continues to play a crucial role as a symbol of national identity, a means of communication, a unifying language, and a medium of social control. Nevertheless, the influence of globalization and social media has increased the use of foreign languages, slang, and code-mixing practices, which may reduce the use of standard Indonesian. Therefore, greater awareness and collective commitment are needed to preserve and strengthen the position of Indonesian as a symbol of national identity and unity in the modern era.]]>
