Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of picture card media in improving the learning interest of fourth-grade students at SDN 9 Tanjung Arak. The research employed a qualitative method with a case study approach. The subjects consisted of one teacher and 11 fourth-grade students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with triangulation to ensure data validity. The results showed that before the use of picture card media, students’ learning interest was relatively low, as indicated by limited attention, participation, and engagement in the learning process. After implementing picture card media in group activities, students’ learning interest increased significantly. A total of 9 out of 11 students became more active, focused, confident in expressing opinions, and engaged in discussions. The picture card media helped students understand concepts more concretely and made learning more interesting and enjoyable. In conclusion, picture card media plays an important role in enhancing students’ learning interest and creating an interactive and meaningful learning environment.
