Abstract

study aims to analyze the concept of national defense literacy (Bela Negara) and its implementation through small, everyday acts of patriotism among Indonesian youth. The background of this study arises from a growing concern that nationalist spirit, particularly among the younger generation, is declining due to globalization, foreign cultural influences, and insufficient character education. Using a conceptual review approach based on existing legal frameworks, expert theories, and relevant literature, this study identifies five core values of Bela Negara as mandatedin Law No. 23 of 2019: love of the homeland, national awareness, loyalty to Pancasila, willingness to sacrifice, and basic defense skills. The findings reveal that Bela Negara need not be expressed solely through military service but can be practiced through daily actions such as using domestic products, maintaining environmental cleanliness, studying diligently, respecting national symbols, preserving unity in diversity, obeying the law, and actively participating in social life. The youth generation holds a critical role in sustaining national defense through digital literacy, social entrepreneurship, cultural preservation, and civic leadership. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating Bela Negara values into education curricula and public awareness programs in practical, contextually relevant ways.
