Abstract

Background of the Study: The digital transformation era demands that educational institution libraries, particularly those under Islamic higher education, adapt their management systems to meet increasingly complex academic community needs. Many Islamic university libraries in Indonesia, including those in East Kalimantan, still operate conventionally, resulting in inefficient information access and suboptimal academic services. Objectives: This research aims to: (1) analyze the implementation of digital-based library management at UIN Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris Samarinda in the context of the MPI study program; (2) evaluate the contribution of digital library management to improving educational quality; and (3) identify supporting and inhibiting factors in the transformation process. Method: This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 14 informants selected via purposive sampling, participatory observation, and documentation studies. Finding: Results indicate that digital library management implementation through SLiMS, institutional repositories, and online reference services has significantly improved information access quality. Digital service usage increased by an average of 143.2% over two years. Three critical success factors were identified: institutional leadership commitment, librarian competency development, and an information literacy culture among MPI students. Conclusion: Digital-based library management transformation significantly supports educational quality improvement in the MPI study program.
