Abstract

This study aims to describe the strategies teachers use to pay attention to students who are not active in learning Indonesian through deep learning-based education at SMPN 7 Batang Hari. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design, collecting data through observation, in-depth interviews, and record keeping of information. The research results show that teachers apply group discussion strategies, presentations, question-and-answer sessions, and approaches tailored to students' needs to encourage critical thinking and active engagement. However, student participation is still not even, critical thinking skills remain limited, and the teaching materials are not varied enough to fully motivate students. Therefore, the right learning strategy is very important to help less active students become more involved, one way is through differentiation, which adjusts teaching methods to fit each student's learning style, so it can improve their understanding and involvement in Indonesian language learning in a optimal and sustainable way.
