Abstract

Character education is essentially a crucial element in supporting the success of the educational process itself. This is especially true at the elementary school level, as this phase is the most crucial for the formation of a child's morals, attitudes, and early personality. Based on this, this literature study was compiled with the aim of examining in more depth the urgency of character education for elementary school students, namely by examining various supporting theories, previous research results, and how actual implementation practices in the daily school environment. The study findings indicate that character education not only influences students' behavior and morals but also has a positive impact on their social, emotional, and academic development. In the midst of the development of the digital era, character education plays a role as a bulwark that helps students sort out the negative impacts of technology, social media, and global cultural dynamics. Efforts to implement character education have proven to be more optimal when schools, teachers, families, and the community are involved collaboratively. Therefore, character education should be used as the main foundation in producing a young generation that not only has noble morals and is able to think critically, but also has a strong mentality and is ready to compete on the global stage without having to lose the identity and noble cultural values of the nation.
