Abstract

ABSTRACT The teacher code of ethics is a set of moral and professional norms that serve as guidelines for teachers’ behavior in carrying out educational duties. The existence of a code of ethics is very important in maintaining the honor of the teaching profession, improving the quality of educational services, and creating healthy relationships between teachers, students, parents, and society. This paper aims to explain the concept of the Indonesian teacher code of ethics, its functions, principles, implementation, and challenges in its application in the modern educational world. The method used is a literature study through the review of books and recent scientific journals. The results of the study indicate that the code of ethics functions as a guide for professional behavior, a tool of social control, professional protection, and a foundation for improving the quality of education. However, its implementation still faces obstacles such as low understanding, weak supervision, and the influence of the work environment. Therefore, continuous guidance is needed so that the code of ethics can be implemented optimally.
