Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the learning reflections of Pre-Service Teacher Professional Education students during their Supervised Teaching Practicum at SD Negeri 37 Anduring. The analysis focused on identifying the challenges encountered by student teachers during instruction, examining the use of learning media and classroom activities to enhance student engagement, explaining the role of reflection as a basis for improving teaching strategies, and exploring the development of pedagogical awareness through reflective practice. This study employed a qualitative approach using a document analysis design. The data consisted of 18 reflection documents written by six Pre-Service Teacher Professional Education students from Universitas Adzkia during their teaching practicum. Data were collected through documentation and analyzed using thematic analysis, which included data familiarization, coding, theme development, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed four major themes: challenges in classroom instruction, the use of learning media and activities to increase student engagement, reflection as a basis for improving teaching strategies, and the development of pedagogical awareness through reflection. The results indicate that reflective practice enabled student teachers to identify instructional challenges, design more appropriate improvement strategies based on students’ needs, and develop a deeper understanding and evaluation of their teaching practices. This study highlights that learning reflection functions not only as an evaluation tool but also as a means of professional development that supports the improvement of pre-service teachers’ instructional practices.
