Abstract

This classroom action research was conducted to improve students’ mathematics learning outcomes on weight measurement material through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by concrete media. The study involved 26 second-grade students of UPT SD Negeri Kutorejo 3. The research employed the Kemmis and McTaggart classroom action research design consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages conducted in two cycles. Data were collected through tests, observations, and documentation. The results showed that the implementation of PBL assisted by concrete media improved students’ mathematics learning outcomes. The average score increased from 75.5 in the pre-cycle to 87.0 in Cycle I and 88.0 in Cycle II. Classical mastery learning improved from 26.92% in the pre-cycle to 46.15% in Cycle I and reached 88.46% in Cycle II. The findings indicate that Problem Based Learning assisted by concrete media effectively improves mathematics learning outcomes on weight measurement material in elementary school.
