Abstract

Speaking is one of four language skills that form the foundation of the cognitive, social, and emotional development of students in elementary school. However, the reality on the ground shows that most students' speaking skills are suboptimal due to psychological barriers such as anxiety, low self-confidence, and a lack of innovation in learning approaches. This study aims to examine in more depth the integration of literature learning in developing students' speaking skills at the elementary school level. The method used in this study was a Systematic Literature Review. The data collection process was conducted through digital searches of reputable scientific databases such as Google Scholar, SINTA, and Garuda using specific keywords with the criteria of articles published between 2020-2026. The results showed that the integration of literature such as fairy tales, pantun, and folktales can create a fun-based learning atmosphere that effectively diverts students' anxiety. The implementation of storytelling and role-playing methods based on literature has been proven to significantly increase students' confidence in speaking, enrich vocabulary, and improve pronunciation, intonation, and clarity of speech. The integration of literature in language learning is an effective strategy for developing students' speaking skills at the elementary school level.
