Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of students' lack of understanding of basic measurement concepts in mathematics. In addition, technological developments have a positive impact on education. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of ultrasonic sensor media on student learning outcomes in the area measurement material in grade IV of SD Negeri 1 Pagar Air Aceh Besar. This study uses a quantitative approach with an experimental method, namely a pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of two groups, namely class IV B as the experimental class which was given treatment using ultrasonic sensor media, and class IV A as the control class which was given learning using conventional methods. Data collection techniques are carried out through tests in the form of pretests and posttests. The data obtained are then analyzed using statistical tests, namely the independent sample t-test. The results of the assumption test through the normality test and the homogeneity test indicate that the data are normally distributed and have homogeneous variance. Furthermore, the results of the independent sample t-test show a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05, which means there is a significant difference between student learning outcomes in the experimental class and the control class. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of ultrasonic sensor media has a significant effect on improving student learning outcomes in the area measurement material
