Abstract

Community service activities represent a tangible manifestation of the Tri Dharma (Three Pillars) of Higher Education, specifically focusing on strengthening students' social competencies such as environmental awareness, communication skills, leadership qualities, and a sense of responsibility in addressing community needs. At Muhammadiyah higher education institutions, service activities are viewed not merely as an implementation of the Tri Dharma, but also as a means to put the values of Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK) into practice within the community. This service initiative was conducted at the Restu Ilahi Orphanage with the aim of actualizing AIK values while fostering motivation, social concern, and happiness among the children. The activity began with preliminary observations, coordination with orphanage administrators, and program planning, followed by a motivational sharing session, educational games, a coloring contest, the distribution of snacks and prizes to the children, and the handover of basic food supplies to the administrators. The results indicate that all planned programs were successfully executed and received a positive response from both the children and the orphanage staff. Beyond providing students with firsthand experience in practicing social concern, ukhuwah (brotherhood), and a spirit of sharing, the activity also contributed to boosting the children's motivation, self-confidence, and social interaction skills. Consequently, community service grounded in Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan values serves as a concrete method for strengthening student character and embodies the university's commitment to delivering sustainable benefits to the community.
