Abstract

The Qur’an in Surah al-Baqarah verse 233 emphasizes that the breastfeeding (raḍā’ah) period is two full years for those who want to perfect it; however, raḍā’ah up to two full years is not yet popular among Indonesian people and its prevalence is unknown. This study aims to explore the level of understanding, level of practice and relationship between understanding and practice of raḍā’ah among breastfeeding mothers in Ulee Kareng Subdistrict, Banda Aceh, Aceh Province. This field study used an analytical survey with a cross-sectional design. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires to 54 respondents, and the sample was determined using the Frank Lynch formula. The data were then analyzed using SPSS 20. The data for the first and second research questions were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively by calculating the average scores and percentages. The data for the third question were analyzed using the Crosstab facility using the Spearman Rank Correlation Test inferential statistics. The results showed that the level of understanding of breastfeeding mothers in Ulee Kareng regarding raḍā’ah was high with an average value of 3.29 and the level of practice was also high with an average value of 3.37. The relationship between the understanding of and the practice of raḍā’ah among breastfeeding mothers in Ulee Kareng indicates a significant relationship with a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), in which Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected. The correlation coefficient value of 0.844 signifies a very strong relationship between mothers’ understanding and breastfeeding practice in Ulee Kareng Subdistrict, Banda Aceh.

Abstract

Online learning has become a solution for education during the COVID-19 pandemic. Some existing studies consider online learning to provide quality education amidst the pandemic. However, its implementation has caused several problems and challenges for educational institutions, teachers, students, and parents, particularly in early childhood education. This study aims to describe TK BQSR's experience in using the jarimatika quran method for Quran memorization through online learning, identify the challenges, and demonstrate the school's strategies in addressing these challenges. This research adopts a qualitative approach. Data are collected through interviews and documentation and analyzed descriptively. The results indicated that Quran memorization using the jarimatika Quran method at TK BQSR is conducted through WhatsApp, video calls, and YouTube. The challenges encountered in implementing online learning are related to achieving learning targets, teacher proficiency, student interest and motivation, parental support, internet connectivity and data limitations, as well as school facilities and infrastructure. To overcome these challenges, TK BQSR has employed several strategies, including implementing regular evaluation systems, holding focus group discussions among teachers for lesson preparation, conducting weekly tahsin (Quran recitation) sessions for parents, organizing monthly parenting training, providing teacher capacity-building training, availing the services of a learning consultant for the school, and continuous support from the central foundation.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly used in Qur’anic learning through tools that search, translate, recommend, and generate explanatory outputs. While these technologies expand access to Qur’anic resources, they also raise questions about interpretive authority when religious meanings are mediated by automated systems. This study examines how boundaries for AI use are articulated in Qur’anic learning and interpretation in Aceh. Using a qualitative design, the research draws on semi-structured interviews with ulama affiliated with dayah (traditional Islamic boarding schools in Aceh). The data were analysed thematically to trace how authority was framed, where limits of use were drawn, and what educational risks were anticipated. The findings show that AI is generally regarded as mubaḥ for limited technical purposes, accompanied by iḥtiyat to safeguard aqidah and reduce uncritical reliance on machine-generated outputs. Interpretive credibility is understood to remain anchored in teacher-guided transmission through talaqqi and sanad, alongside the cultivation of adab and dirayah. AI is restricted from activities that resemble tafsir, particularly where contextual reasoning (including asbab al-nuzul), methodological discipline, and sustained engagement with the classical turath are required. Although AI offers practical benefits for teachers in preparation and administration, it is also associated with concerns about student dependency, weakened study discipline, and reduced engagement with demanding texts. The study shows how epistemic norms in ulum al-Qur'an are operationalised as practical boundaries that conditionally accommodate AI in Qur’anic learning while protecting interpretive authority in dayah contexts in Aceh.
