Abstract

This study wants to explore the importance of ecofeminism narratives in history learning. Ecofeminism is a crucial topic regarding environmental and women's issues. This topic is largely absent from classrooms, when in fact it closely related to society. The continued exploitation of the environment and marginalization of women demonstrate how society views its surroundings in a dualistic and hierarchical perspective, allowing for the perpetuation of the dominance of one party over another. In this regard, history learning is seen as a crucial arena for introducing ecofeminist studies because it holds strategic power and position in deconstructing perspectives on the environment, women, and their interrelationships. On the other hand, history learning itself remains androcentric, elitist, and anthropocentric, necessitating discussions on the roles of women and the environment. This study was compiled through a literature review examining ecofeminist theory and relevant learning theories. As a result, integrating ecofeminism into history learning is not simply about adding material regarding the environment and women issue, but rather an effort to fundamentally shift students' perspectives in understanding the agency, cause and effect, and meaning of events related to the environment, women, and their relationship in history.
