Abstract

Student report card data management at the Ulil Albab Foundation in Batam is currently handled manually using Microsoft Excel. This approach is highly inefficient, as it is prone to input errors, hinders real-time data monitoring, and fails to present academic information in a visual and structured manner. Although previous research developed a web-based e-Report (Electronic Report) system, its focus remained limited to structured grade processing and storage. It lacked an optimal, interactive, and user-friendly dashboard for presenting information. To address these gaps, this study aims to design and build a web-based e-Report system equipped with a data visualization dashboard to support more effective, efficient, and well-documented management of student academic data. The issues addressed in this study fall into the category of broadly defined academic management problems, which impact teacher workflow efficiency, information transparency for parents, and the principal's capacity to monitor overall institutional academic performance. The system incorporates data visualization implemented via the Recharts library, generating interactive Bar Chart, Radar Chart, and Line Chart components. The expected outcome of this research is a web-based e-Report platform that simplifies grade inputting for teachers, provides streamlined report card access for students and parents, and delivers a real-time academic data visualization dashboard to assist school administrators in decision-making. System performance and user experience are evaluated using the System Usability Scale (SUS).

Abstract

The increasing use of digital technology has transformed promotional strategies, including in the boarding house industry. High population mobility in Batam City has created a growing demand for accessible and informative boarding house promotions. This study aims to design an interactive website as a promotional medium for boarding houses. A descriptive quantitative method was employed through questionnaires to identify user needs and preferences. The findings were used to guide the design process using the Design Thinking approach, which includes empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test stages. The resulting website provides information on prices, facilities, locations, photos, and videos, enabling prospective tenants to obtain more comprehensive and up-to-date information. The website also offers a simple and integrated interface for both tenants and boarding house owners. The developed platform is expected to enhance promotional effectiveness and support users in finding suitable accommodation.

Abstract

The increasing influx of migrants to major cities, driven by developments in the education and industrial sectors, has resulted in a growing demand for temporary accommodation, particularly boarding houses. Nevertheless, prospective tenants continue to encounter significant challenges in obtaining comprehensive and accurate information regarding available boarding houses. Fragmented information, insufficient visual representation of housing conditions, and limited promotional media constitute the primary obstacles that hinder the decision-making process. This study aims to design an Instagram-based digital promotional medium for boarding houses using the Design Thinking method, as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of the resulting medium. The findings indicate that prospective tenants exhibit a preference for promotional media that is informative, transparent, easily comprehensible, and capable of depicting housing conditions in a realistic manner. This study offers at least two contributions. First, from the perspective of prospective tenants, Instagram-based promotional media enables the presentation of boarding house information in a more structured and engaging format, thereby facilitating access to the information required for informed decision-making. Second, from the perspective of boarding house owners, this study demonstrates that the utilization of multimedia content through social media platforms constitutes an effective alternative strategy for promotion.

Abstract

This research aims to optimize sentiment analysis by leveraging the strengths of multiple Support Vector Machine (SVM) kernels—Linear, RBF, Polynomial, and Sigmoid—through an ensemble learning approach. This study introduces a novel model called SVM Porlis, which integrates these kernels using both hard and soft voting strategies to improve the classification performance on imbalanced datasets. Sentiment classification in this study involves two classes: positive and negative. Tweets related to the controversy over the naturalization of Indonesian national football players were collected using the official X/Twitter API, resulting in a dataset of 2,248 entries. The dataset was notably imbalanced, with significantly more negative samples than positive samples. Data preprocessing included cleaning, labeling, tokenization, stopword removal, stemming, and feature extraction using TF-IDF. To address the class imbalance, the SMOTE technique was applied to synthetically augment the minority class. Each SVM kernel was trained and evaluated individually before being combined into an SVM Porlis model. Evaluation metrics included accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and confusion matrix analysis. The results demonstrate that SVM Porlis with soft voting achieved the highest performance, with 98% accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score, surpassing the performance of individual kernels and other ensemble approaches such as SVM + Chi-Square and SVM + PSO. These findings highlight the effectiveness of combining multiple kernels to capture both linear and non-linear patterns, offering a robust and adaptive solution for sentiment analysis in real-world, imbalanced data scenarios.
