Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology creates an overstimulation phenomenon that has a dual impact on the lives of young Christians, namely on the dimensions of mental health and faith formation. This study aims to analyze the impact of digital overstimulation on the mental health of young Christians and to analyze the influence of digital overstimulation on the faith formation of young Indonesian Christians. The method used is a literature review with a descriptive qualitative approach through synthesis analysis of relevant national and international journal sources. The results show that excessive digital exposure causes cognitive disruption in the prefrontal cortex area, triggering anxiety, emotional exhaustion, and decreased concentration capacity that directly weakens contemplative spirituality practices. Furthermore, the overstimulation phenomenon produces spiritual disorientation in the form of faith identity fragmentation, shallow relationship with God, and erosion of spiritual discipline. This study concludes that digital overstimulation is not merely a psychological threat but also a spiritual crisis that demands a church response through a contextual and contemplative spirituality model rooted in Christian faith tradition.
