Abstract

This study explores gender-based violence through critical discourse analysis of dramatic texts, aiming to enhance literary-based learning. By examining how language constructs and perpetuates GBV within dramatic narratives, the research seeks to deepen understanding of power dynamics, social norms, and the impact of gender-based violence on individuals and society. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method. This study aims to identify the forms of violence experienced by the main female characters in the play A Streetcar Named Desire, as well as the factors behind them. The research data consists of dialogues between characters that reflect the objectives of the study. Data analysis in this research involves three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings reveal show that there are three forms of violence depicted by the author in the drama Streetcar Named Desire: physical violence, verbal violence, and sexual violence. All forms of violence are fundamentally rooted in the patriarchal culture that is deeply ingrained in American society, which has shaped social cognition with the view that women are inferior to men. The practical implication exploring gender-based violence through critical discourse analysis in drama can significantly enhance literary-based learning by fostering critical thinking, promoting awareness of social inequalities, and empowering students to challenge harmful norms.

Abstract

Reading is a crucial skill that students need to develop. Through reading, students gain knowledge and improve their language skills. This study aims to identify the strategies used by the English teacher in teaching narrative texts and to explore the students’ responses to these strategies among the tenth graders of MA Darul Ulum Sasa. We used a descriptive qualitative approach for this study. To collect data, we used observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The data was analyzed in three steps: Data Reduction, Data Display, and Drawing Conclusions or Verification. Our focus was on the English teacher and 27 tenth-grade students at MA Darul Ulum Sasa. The results showed that the English teacher used several techniques, such as defining the purpose of reading, silent reading, Question-Answer Relationship (QAR), vocabulary analysis, and discussion strategies. By using these methods, the teacher was able to try different ways of teaching reading based on the subject. As a result, the teaching techniques became more engaging and effective in helping students improve their ability to read narrative texts.

Abstract

The development of Generation Z living in the digital era presents new challenges in shaping students' ethical and moral behavior. The Independent Curriculum was designed in response to the needs of 21st-century education by placing character education as the main foundation through strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile. This study aims to analyze the role of character education in the Independent Curriculum on the ethical and moral behavior of Generation Z students. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a literature study of scientific journals, educational policy documents, and relevant previous research results. The results of the study indicate that character education in the Independent Curriculum plays a significant role in shaping students' ethical and moral behavior through the integration of character values ​​in learning, project-based learning, and teacher role models. However, the implementation of character education still faces challenges in the form of educator readiness and the influence of the digital environment. This study concludes that character education in the Independent Curriculum contributes positively to the ethical and moral formation of Generation Z students if implemented consistently and collaboratively.

Abstract

Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan profesionalitas guru dalam penulisan karya ilmiah melalui pelatihan penggunaan manajemen referensi pada guru SMPN 4 Kota Ternate. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara awal, guru mengalami hambatan dalam melakukan dan mempublikasikan hasil penelitian mereka, kurangnya keterlibatan riset kolaborasi, dan kurangnya pengetahuan tentang pemanfaatan referensi digital dalam penulisan karya ilmiah menggunakan aplikasi Mendeley dan Zotero. Kegiatan dilaksanakan secara kolaboratif oleh tim dosen dari ISDIK Kie Raha dan Universitas Khairun pada tanggal 23–24 Juli 2025, meliputi ceramah, demonstrasi, praktik mandiri, serta evaluasi pembuatan karya ilmiah mini, dengan jumlah peserta sebanyak 24 guru. Metode pelaksanaan bersifat eksperimental-praktik dengan pendekatan pelatihan tatap muka dan praktik langsung menggunakan Mendeley dan Zotero, diikuti evaluasi ketercapaian kompetensi. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan teknis peserta dalam menginstal, mengelola pustaka digital, serta menerapkan sitasi otomatis pada dokumen ilmiah; peserta berhasil menyusun karya ilmiah mini yang memenuhi kaidah sitasi digital. Keterbatasan waktu mengurangi kedalaman beberapa materi, sehingga direkomendasikan tindak lanjut berupa pendampingan berkelanjutan dan workshop lanjutan yang mengintegrasikan impor data dari basis terindeks seperti Scopus, Google Scholar, dan Web of Science. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa pelatihan reference manager efektif meningkatkan kapasitas penulisan ilmiah guru dan mendukung budaya penelitian di lingkungan sekolah.
