Abstract

The Gawai Dayak Tebidah culture is an annual post-harvest tradition expressing gratitude to God, deeply rooted in religious, social, and solidarity values. However, technological advancements and modernization have triggered a shift in meaning among the millennial generation in Nangkak Lestari Village, where sacred customary values are increasingly degraded by deviant behaviors such as revelry, drunkenness, and promiscuity. This qualitative research using a limited case study approach aims to analyze this value shift from the perspective of Christian Religious Education (PAK). Data were gathered through structured interviews with customary leaders, heads of hamlets, and millennial representatives. The results indicate that the moral decline among the youth stems from the uncritical adoption of global culture, unmatched by a solid understanding of both their traditional roots and Christian faith values. As a clinical-theological implication, this article emphasizes the crucial role of PAK and local churches in conducting contextual faith formation to reorient millennials' perspectives. Through biblically-based teachings, the millennial generation is expected to preserve the noble essence of Gawai Dayak as an expression of gratitude to Christ, avoiding both syncretism and moral decadence.

Abstract

Abstract This Community Service (PkM) activity is motivated by the importance of Christian value-based character building for the younger generation amidst current moral challenges. This program was carried out through a collaboration between the Christian Religious Education (PAK) Study Program of STT Pelita Dunia Tangerang and SMP Negeri 116 Jakarta Utara. The purpose of this activity is to provide education on Christian values and to encourage changes in student attitudes in building a Christ-like character. The implementation method used was an interactive lecture method through in-person (offline) seminars and group discussions. This activity was attended by 31 Christian students at SMP Negeri 116 Jakarta Utara. The results of this community service indicate an increase in students' understanding regarding the importance of integrating PAK values into their daily lives, as well as a tangible commitment from students to demonstrate behavioral changes aligned with the character of Christ.   Abstrak Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya pembentukan karakter berbasis nilai Kristiani bagi generasi muda di tengah tantangan moral saat ini. Program ini dilaksanakan melalui kerja sama antara Program Studi Pendidikan Agama Kristen (PAK) STT Pelita Dunia Tangerang dengan SMP Negeri 116 Jakarta Utara. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah memberikan edukasi mengenai nilai-nilai Kristiani serta mendorong perubahan sikap siswa dalam membangun karakter menyerupai Kristus. Metode pelaksanaan yang digunakan adalah metode ceramah interaktif melalui seminar dan diskusi kelompok secara luring (offline). Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 31 siswa Kristen di SMP Negeri 116 Jakarta Utara. Hasil dari PkM ini menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman siswa mengenai pentingnya integrasi nilai PAK dalam kehidupan sehari-hari serta komitmen nyata siswa dalam menunjukkan perubahan sikap hidup yang selaras dengan karakter Kristus.
