Abstract

Kailan (Brassica oleracea var. alboglabra) is a leafy vegetable whose growth and yield are influenced by nutrient availability. This study evaluated the effects of buffalo manure and NPK fertilizer on kailan grown in polybags. The experiment used a factorial randomized block design with two factors: buffalo manure (200, 250, and 300 g plant⁻¹) and NPK fertilizer (5.0, 6.0, and 7.0 g plant⁻¹), with three replications. Analysis of variance showed that buffalo manure significantly affected shoot fresh weight, while NPK fertilizer significantly affected root fresh weight. Their interaction significantly affected plant height and root fresh weight. The 250 g plant⁻¹ manure treatment produced the highest mean shoot fresh weight (68.46 g), and 6.0 g plant⁻¹ NPK produced the highest mean root fresh weight (1.65 g). The highest interaction means were recorded for plant height at 300 g manure + 7.0 g NPK (62.14 cm) and root fresh weight at 200 g manure + 6.0 g NPK (2.01 g). Other observed parameters were not significantly affected.
