Abstract

This study aims to examine and describe how Social Studies (IPS) teachers utilize AI in developing learning materials at SMP Negeri 12 Semarang. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. The results indicate that AI is utilized as a tool in learning planning, including for searching for material references, formulating learning objectives, developing learning activities, and developing evaluation instruments. The use of AI helps teachers improve time efficiency and enriches learning planning. However, AI-derived results still require review and adjustment by teachers to align with learning outcomes, student characteristics, and the contextual principles of the Independent Curriculum. This study concludes that AI plays a role in supporting teacher professionalism in developing learning materials, while the teacher's role remains a primary factor in determining the quality and relevance of learning.   Keywords: Artificial Intelligence, Learning Materials, Learning Planning
