Abstract

Character education has become increasingly urgent amid the rising moral and social challenges faced by students in Islamic schools, necessitating an effective habituation model aligned with Islamic values. This study aims to analyze the role of Akidah Akhlak teachers in implementing the 7 Kebiasaan Anak Indonesia Hebat program at MTs Bustanul Ulum Pagerharjo, as well as to examine the strategies, challenges, and impacts of the program on students’ character development. Employing a qualitative case study design, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, categorization, presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings demonstrate that teachers play a strategic role in planning, implementing, and supervising the habituation process through modeling, hands-on practice, personal approaches, and collaboration with other teachers. The program contributes positively to students’ discipline, manners, responsibility, and social awareness, although it faces challenges such as differences in students’ backgrounds, digital environmental influences, and inconsistencies among teachers in implementing the program. These findings highlight the importance of integrating Akidah Akhlak values into character habituation and provide theoretical contributions to strengthening character education models based on religious values. Future research is recommended to broaden the study context, enhance data triangulation, and explore the role of families in supporting students’ character formation.
