Abstract

This study aims to analyze the institutional governance practices of the Daarul Ikhlaash Islamic Boarding School in South Sangatta and formulate an institutional strengthening model based on Good Islamic Governance (GIG). The study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical design. Data were obtained through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies of kiai (Islamic scholars), administrators, ustaz (Islamic teachers), ustazah (Islamic teachers), and students. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model through the stages of data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that institutional governance is still dominated by centralistic leadership so that organizational effectiveness, administrative systems, transparency, and institutional evaluation have not been optimal. The values of Good Islamic Governance, including amanah (trust), adl (fairness), syura (community service), and ihsan (goodness of character) have become a normative basis, but have not been systematically integrated into the institution's management mechanisms. Based on these findings, this study formulates a model for strengthening institutional governance based on Good Islamic Governance, consisting of five pillars: collective-participatory leadership, a transparent and documented administrative system, strengthening human resource capacity, Islamic-based monitoring and evaluation, and developing a welfare-oriented organizational culture. This model provides a conceptual contribution to the development of professional Islamic boarding school governance while maintaining Islamic values as the institutional foundation.
