Abstract

Anemia happens when someone has a low count of red blood cells or hemoglobin. It is a significant global health concern impacting developing and developed nations. The 2017 World Health Organization (WHO) report showed that global anemia prevalence was between 40 and 88 percent. The 2012 Household Health Survey reported a 57.1 percent prevalence of anemia among 10-18 year old girls and a 39.5 percent prevalence among women of childbearing age (19-45). The 2018 Indonesian health survey (Riskesdas) reported a prevalence of 84.6 percent of iron deficiency anemia among Indonesian girls. This research was done to understand the presence of anemia in adolescents of RW 17, Cileungsi Village, Cileungsi District, Bogor Regency from differences in knowledge of anemia, nutritional status, menstrual patterns, and iron supplement consumption. The study found knowledge of anemia and presence of anemia (p = 0.000) to be significantly different, as was nutritional status (p = 0.019) and menstrual pattern (p = 0.036). The presence of anemia and iron supplement consumption was found to be significantly different (p = 0.062). From this study, it is expected that with the increase of knowledge of anemia, the behavior of adolescents will change, resulting in an improved status of nutrition and a healthy dietary pattern, as well as an increase in the consumption of iron supplements

Abstract

The urgency of unresolved adolescent reproductive health issues, including unwanted pregnancies (Fitriana, 2023). Limited access to accurate information leads many adolescents to acquire knowledge from unreliable sources, such as peer conversations or unverified digital content. As a result, adolescents are more vulnerable to risky behaviors such as premarital sex, sexually transmitted infections (STI), and unplanned pregnancies (BKKBN, 2022). Based on a preliminary study conducted over approximately one week, it was found that 7 out of 10 students at Al Kautsar Islamic Boarding School had insufficient knowledge about reproductive health. This research is an experimental study with a pre-experimental design. The research design used a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample in this study used a total sampling technique, taking all members of the population without considering strata or levels within the population. The sample size for this study was 78 students at Al Kautsar Islamic Boarding School, Tangerang. The average knowledge before and after was 70.39 and 86.73, respectively. The increase in knowledge before and after was 16.34. The Wilcoxon test showed a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05. There is a difference in the impact of video-based educational media on adolescents' knowledge levels regarding reproductive health at the Al Kautsar Islamic Boarding School in Tangerang.

Abstract

One of the government's programs to reduce MMR is by providing KIA books to every pregnant woman. The KIA book is an important communication tool for pregnant women which is equipped with information for mothers, families and the community about KIA service standards, as a tool for recognizing danger signs and early detection of maternal and child health disorders or problems. However, currently the use of KIA books in Indonesia is still low, which affects the level of knowledge and attitudes of mothers in recognizing danger signs during pregnancy, where danger signs in pregnancy are one of the factors causing high maternal and infant mortality rates. By not using the KIA book properly, it is difficult for midwives to detect danger signs of pregnancy. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women regarding the danger signs of pregnancy with the use of KIA books at TPMB Bd D East Jakarta. The type of research used is quantitative descriptive with a crosssectional research design. The total population was 109 people, while the sample was taken based on accidental sampling by taking data on patients who were willing to become respondents with inclusion and exclusion criteria totaling 50 people. From the research results, there is a relationship between the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women about the danger signs of pregnancy and the use of the KIA book at TPMB Bd D. Although the majority of pregnant women have used the KIA book well, overall utilization is still not optimal. Therefore, it is necessary to increase education and assistance to optimize the role of the KIA Book as a medium for information and monitoring of maternal and child health, as well as for pregnant women to receive complete information about the danger signs of pregnancy
