Abstract

This study aims to analyze the comparison of Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE) in the Google Meet application using two types of internet connections: local Wi-Fi and mobile tethering. QoS measurements were conducted using Wireshark with parameters including throughput, delay, jitter, and packet loss, while QoE was measured using the Mean Opinion Score (MOS) method. Testing was performed three times for each network scenario with a 10-minute video conference duration. The results show that the local Wi-Fi network performs better than mobile tethering, with an average throughput of 24.467 kbps, a delay of 12,8 ms, jitter of 1,83 ms, 0% packet loss, and a MOS score of 4 (good category). In contrast, mobile tethering produced an average throughput of 8.267 kbps, latency of 47,03 ms, jitter of 5,9 ms, packet loss of 1,5%, and a MOS score of 3,3 (fair category). These findings indicate that network service quality significantly impacts the quality of the user experience during video conferences. The uniqueness of this study lies in the integration of Wireshark-based QoS analysis and MOS-based QoE evaluation to compare the performance of the two types of network connections on the Google Meet platform.
