Abstract

Feed is a key factor determining the success of fish farming, as it accounts for approximately 60–70% of total production costs. Feed quality is greatly influenced by the balance of nutrients such as protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals which play a crucial role in supporting growth, feed conversion efficiency, and fish health. This study aims to analyze the effects of nutrients and feed on the growth of farmed fish through a descriptive analysis based on observations from laboratory experiments and supported by various scientific publications. The study employed a quantitative descriptive method using direct measurement techniques, in which data were obtained through the formulation of feed using local raw materials including fish meal, rice bran, tofu residue, vitamin premix, and tapioca flour as well as observations of the resulting feed’s characteristics. The data were analyzed descriptively by relating the observational results to theory and previous research findings. The results of the study indicate that protein is the primary nutrient involved in body tissue formation and fish growth, while fats and carbohydrates serve as energy sources that enhance protein utilization efficiency. Vitamins and minerals play a role in supporting metabolism, the immune system, and fish health. Furthermore, the use of local raw materials has the potential to produce high-quality feed at a lower production cost when formulated in a.
