Abstract

Abstract This study examines the concept of social justice as presented in the Qur'an, focusing on its implications for modern social policies. Using a qualitative approach, the research analyzes key Qur'anic verses such as Surah Al-Baqarah (2:177), An-Nisa’ (4:58), and Al-Hujurat (49:13), alongside classical and contemporary tafsir. The study employs thematic analysis to explore how the Qur'anic principles of justice, equality, and wealth distribution can be applied in addressing contemporary issues such as economic inequality, gender justice, and governance. The research finds that the Qur'an offers a comprehensive framework for creating a more equitable society, with potential applications in modern public policy. It concludes that Islamic values provide relevant guidance for fostering social welfare and reducing disparities in Muslim-majority countries. Future studies could expand on the practical integration of these principles in contemporary governance systems.

Abstract

Abstract Waste management in schools is not only related to cleanliness but also to students’ understanding of waste classification and sorting. This activity aimed to introduce the differences between organic and inorganic waste, develop students’ classification skills, and foster environmental awareness through the SI PILAH learning media. The activity was conducted in three stages: introducing waste classification concepts using SI PILAH, simulating waste sorting with picture cards, and practicing waste sorting directly in the school environment. The results showed that most students were able to distinguish and classify organic and inorganic waste after receiving explanations, visual examples, and direct practice. Students were also able to apply their understanding by placing waste in the appropriate containers. However, some students focused more on sorting waste than on understanding the purpose of collecting scattered waste to maintain environmental cleanliness. These findings indicate that SI PILAH can serve as a concrete and interactive learning medium to support students’ understanding of waste classification. Its implementation should be accompanied by simple explanations and reflection on the purpose and benefits of waste sorting so that classification skills can develop into habits of maintaining environmental cleanliness. Keywords: SI PILAH; organic waste; inorganic waste; environmental education; elementary school students.
